The Institute of the Blind, located in the center of Milan, promotes independence, self-reliance, professional and cultural training of blind people by offering qualified services targeted to education, personal and professional development of the visually impaired.
Since its foundation in 1840 the Institute has been a reference worldwide for research in the field of pedagogical services and IT and also a venue for events and cultural activities such as the permanent exhibition Dialogue in the Dark.
The Institute promotes the knowledge and accessibility of digital technologies between students, people looking for work, workers or retired disabled people.
The Institute executes the versions of the texts adopted in Braille code classes for blind and visually impaired people, adapting them to the visual conditions of the students. this service allows students with visual impairment to study on the same textbooks used by classmates.
The Institut produces tactile teaching aids for play, learning, and socialization. Here are made relief materials for visually impaired and colored reliefs for visually impaired, for different age groups and students of all school orders.
